Burks-Wiley Hits 1,000 Point Milestone

Congratulations to Boston University's Jesyka Burks-Wiley who recorded her 1,000th career point Saturday afternoon, at home, against New Hampshire. She is the second America East player to reach that mark this season. Vermont's Courtnay Pilypaitis did so in the very first game of the season. Now, on to the results....

Boston U. senior Jesyka Burks-Wiley matched her career high of 24 points and notched her 1,000th career point... The Terriers move to 4-0 in conference play now and slip into sole possession of first place ... New Hampshire's junior Candace Williams netted a game-high 27 points.

Vermont 77, at Albany 54
Sophomore Tonya Young recorded her first career double-double (24 points, 10 rebounds) to lead the Catamounts... The score was tied at 38-38 at the half, but the Vermont defense held Britney McGee (12 points) and Janea Aiken (9 points) scoreless in the second half.

at UMBC 68, Maine 58
America East Players of the Game: Erin Brown (UMBC), Amanda Tewksbury (Maine)
Junior Carlee Cassidy scored 22 points for UMBC and freshman Erin Brown added 17 points and 10 boards... For Maine, junior Amanda Tewskbury netted a team-high 20 points, including four triples, and junior Brittany Boser came one board shy of a double-double with 19 points and 9 rebounds.

Only Binghamton and Stony Brook play on Sunday, a game to be broadcast on Time Warner...

Stony Brook at Binghamton 2 p.m.
Binghamton defeated Stony Brook in both meetings last year, and by a comfortable 59-35 margin at the Events Center... Both teams are strong in the interior post and are in the top half of the league rankings in rebounding margin, blocked shots, and offensive rebounds.
